Linz Airport is the closest, about 35 km away (around 35 minutes by car, or about 1 h 30 by public transport via Linz). Vienna is the main international gateway; Salzburg is an alternative to the west. From both, the train to Linz and then to Steyr is the simplest option.
From the A1 West motorway (Vienna – Salzburg), take the Enns-West/Steyr exit and follow the signs to Steyr. The old town is compact: park outside the centre and walk in.
The Stadtplatz, Schloss Lamberg and Steyrdorf are a few minutes apart on foot. City buses are run by Stadtbetriebe Steyr (Ennser Straße 10); regional buses belong to the Upper Austrian transport network OÖVV. Cyclists can follow the Enns cycle path (R7).
